The sign of a premium vehicle. Today, even the most expensive SUVs, cars and trucks are leaving the factory as bulky "blank spaces". A hand-painted Coachline changes the game. It's the custom touch that restores the "soul" mass-production misses. Your car doesn't just look better; it looks like it belongs in a different class. |

The 35-Year Legacy: 5 Builds for One Carlsbad Collector
True automotive craftsmanship is measured in decades of client trust.
“B.B.”—a Carlsbad-based luxury collector—has been commissioning my San Marcos studio since 1989.
Over the past 35 years, I have refined four of his previous vehicles.
For his fifth build—a brilliant Torch Red C8 Corvette
—we combined modern materials with traditional master brushwork to create a one-of-one original that dominates the local Saturday morning circuit, from the Poinsettia Village Cbad Cars meet to the exclusive Secret Car Club in Rancho Santa Fe.
Q: You’ve been designing for B.B. since 1989. What was the exact vision for his Torch Red C8?
Jack Herrera: B.B. wanted aggressive styling that respected the engineering of the mid-engine platform.
We started with a bespoke partial wrap to lay down custom racing stripes along the lower rocker panels, incorporating his signature race number. But a $100,000 supercar requires more than printed vinyl.
To elevate the build, I used traditional dagger brushes and 1-Shot enamel to pull hand-painted custom coachlines that precisely frame the racing stripes and trace the natural architecture of the C8’s cockpit zones.

Q: Why mix a partial wrap with hand-painted custom pinstriping?Jack Herrera:
It bridges the gap between modern graphics and permanent luxury.
The 90% Rule is an industry reality:
90% of mass-produced vinyl wraps will bake in the Southern California sun, shrink, and begin to fail.
By framing the custom graphic elements with hand-painted coachline pinstriping, we lock in the design with a material that sits on top of the clear coat like glass. When it comes time for trade-in, 100% of Jack Herrera paint survives as a permanent, high-end vehicle modification.
Q: The C8 has highly complex body lines and trim pieces. How do you prepare the car?
Jack Herrera: I operate with a strict Zero-Disassembly Guarantee.
High-volume wrap shops will tear off your C8’s front bumpers, door panels, and aero trim to tuck their vinyl edges,
frequently snapping delicate factory clips that result in permanent high-speed rattles.
I do not use a single wrench or razor blade on your factory paint.
My 50 years of brush control ensures that every custom coachline is laid down surgically, without ever compromising the factory engineering of your Corvette.
Q: How can North County Corvette owners commission a custom build?
Jack Herrera: I work strictly by appointment out of my private studio in San Marcos, serving Carlsbad, Rancho Santa Fe, and the greater North County San Diego area.
Every project is fully bespoke—whether we are contrasting Torch Red factory paint, pulling accent tones from ceramic brake calipers, or designing custom racing graphics.
Call me directly at 760-212-5226. We will discuss your C8 and engineer exactly how to make it a one-of-a-kind asset.

While my Lake San Marcos studio
is now a destination for the North County elite, my roots run deep in Southern California car culture. |
From the classic Oceanside hot rod scene
to the bespoke coachlines of Rancho Santa Fe. I bring that same 50-year heritage of precision to every vehicle I touch. |
|
The Challenge:
Finding a master who still uses a brush and 1-Shot enamel for a true luxury pinstripe. |
The Success:
"Jack is the last of a dying breed. He applied a signature two-tone coachline to my vintage Rolls-Royce using squirrel-hair brushes and 50 years of muscle memory. You simply cannot get this level of artistry from a vinyl shop." — D.W., Rancho Santa Fe |
